OUR NAME MAY
HAVE CHANGED BUT OUR GOALS REMAIN THE SAME.
Mission and Goals:
The office of
Multicultural Academic Services is committed to assisting undergraduate and
graduate students, with emphasis on students from traditionally
underrepresented populations in the awareness and availability of
academic support services that aid in retention and graduation
from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Multicultural Academic
Services consists of a variety of distinct programs collaborating to
reach a singular objective: to provide academic support services that
foster the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students,
especially underrepresented students at UNC-Charlotte. Services
rendered include but are not limited to academic advising, academic
issues workshops, peer counseling and tutoring, and personal counseling.
Moreover, the office serves as a clearinghouse for information and
referrals to other university resources and academic support services.
Programs are:
University Transition Opportunities Program (UTOP)
UTOP Learning Community (UTOP-LC)
Student Advising for Freshmen Excellence (SAFE)
Producing Readiness of Diverse University Cohorts in Education (PRODUCE)
Building Better
Brothers (B3)
The office of
Multicultural Academic Services also serves other underrepresented students
experiencing chronic academic difficulties, by referring them to other
University academic support programs that meet their specific needs.
The office is open Monday thru Friday,
7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with the
