Dear Student,
We are pleased that you will be
joining us at UNC Charlotte. As a transfer student you may have
questions or interests related to the following areas:
-
Are you adjusting to life at UNC
Charlotte?
-
Are you interested in social
networking?
-
Would you like to know more
about events on and off campus?
-
Would you like information about
financial aid, scholarships, tutorial services, community service
opportunities and career development?
The Office of Academic Initiatives
For Mentoring Students is committed to providing quality academic
support services to increase the retention and graduation of students.
As a transfer student you are
eligible for the benefits mentioned above, and much more, through UNC
Charlotte’s Transfer Resources for Advancing the College Experience
(TRACE) program, sponsored by the office of Academic Initiatives For
Mentoring Students. This program is dedicated to facilitating a smooth
transition for minority transfer students into UNC-Charlotte, by
connecting students to academic support service such as academic
advising, workshops, and tutoring.
Additionally, to ensure that your
time is used wisely at UNC-Charlotte, we keep transfer students aware of
academic policies and procedures that may affect their graduation. Each
year policies are updated and revised within most departments on
campus. It is important as a transfer student to know how these changes
affect you and the appropriate action to take to stay on time with your
respective academic program. Moreover, typically transfer students are
not aware of how their credits transfer into the university and not made
aware of any outstanding general education requirements they may have.
The TRACE Program will work with students to understand precisely what
is required of them to achieve graduation in a timely manner. Finally,
if you are having any problem that our office can assist you with, we
will happily serve as an intercessor to rectify the situation.
At the beginning of each semester we
offer an orientation to TRACE students. Throughout the semester we keep
students informed of events occurring on and off campus, through an
email listserv. Also, we invite TRACE students to join some of the
activities we sponsor for our other programs. Also, we hold social
activities, such as pizza parties, to allow transfer students to meet
and get to know each other.
To apply, please
print out the application and send it in by mail to:
